Monster Trucks Come to Roberts

Thanks to 5th grader Tammy Wu, all of our Fifth Graders enjoyed a visit from Monster Truck driver Chad Fortune this past Thursday, March 3. Tammy, a student in Ms. Footman’s class, won a poster-drawing contest through the D.A.R.E. Program. Officer Boni, who represents D.A.R.E. at Roberts, presented Tammy with an award and then asked all our 5th graders to go outside to look at a real Monster Truck.

Black History Month Finale at Roberts

If the end of February and beginning of March are any indication, fun events are coming to Roberts! February 29 marked the end of Black History Month and Roberts students and staff had a blast ending the festivities. Our own staff sang songs inspired by Black History and our Administrative Intern Ms. Daniel sang “Lift Every Voice.”

The African dancers from our After School Program electrified the audience with their dance.

Come visit our library and see this 6th grade ELA Tutorial project on display. The objective of the project was to write an essay about a person they admire and then compare and contrast their achievements using a word cloud. We used an online program called tagxedo (tagsxedo.com)  to create the word clouds from the essays. Students used books, online databases and other resources to write their essays.Image
